Located in the heart of the Amsterdam, Hotel Estherea is amongst a historic stretch of buildings. Exquisitely furnished with crystal chandeliers which accentuates the rooms. A third-generation run family business, it has established itself as a first-class hotel from its beginning in the 1940s. Consisting of 92 hotel rooms, it has done a number of renovation projects over the years which makes each room have its own character.
The bathroom is one of the best in town as it has a large bath. If you are a lover of quality hotel toiletries, they have the L’occitane brand. Then there are the little details that go into creating a great hotel experience such as having their toilet paper with the hotel’s name on it in a nicely coloured pink paper. If you meet the receptionist, Yusra, she is so helpful and courteous. It is indeed a family feel at this hotel. If you are lucky you may meet the owner who can tell you a bit more about this historical hotel.

The Van der Valk Hotel Amsterdam-Amstel has over 200 rooms. This hotel is perfect if you are into wellness as it has so much to offer such as a heated outdoor pool, steam baths, saunas and a gym. The Hoxton is located in the heart of Hoxton, it has over 100 rooms. Situated on Nine Streets, it is a walk away from famous eateries, bars and boutiques. A big feature is the hotel’s great views of both the Signel and Herengracht canal. An interesting fact is that the hotel was formerly five canal houses that were the residence of the Mayor of Amsterdam. The only at shortfall at this hotel is that toiletries may be a bit minimal, but you can call housekeeping for a quick top-up.

Step into the halls of history!! The Volkshotel is located where the headquarter of the Dutch newspaper, De Volkskrant existed. Remodelled, it now has 172 hotel rooms. All is not lost with its remodel, as the hotel has kept the outside design as close as possible to its original design from the sixties. Ode to the newspaper is seen in its decor of magnified newspaper cut-outs. The creative hands are seen in the design of the hotel rooms. This hotel is for a hip nightlife crowd. There may be a bit of music throughout the night echoing from the bar in the basement.

A design haven, this hotel was Decorated by Karim Rashid, the world-renowned designer. This is a hotel of convenience as everything is within reach. Having over 470 rooms where visitors can choose from standard, superior to suites. A spa, a gym and a casino are some of the amenities present. The only thing that was not pleasing was the presence of carpet stains in a number of areas.
