When it comes to hotels, Hyatt Corporation has been around for more than a century. Hyatt (owned by the Pritzker family of Chicago) manages or licenses 87 hotels and 16 resorts with 55,000 rooms scattered across 83 locations in the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. Just a handful of Hyatt’s other hotel concepts include the Grand, Park, and Classic Residence by Hyatt, as well as the hotels they presently possess. Three Grand Hyatts may be found in the United States, all in culturally significant places (New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.). Park Hyatts are tiny European hotels with sites in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. At Hyatt’s Classic Residence by Hyatt hotels, retirees may rent luxury retirement apartments. Since the mid-1990s, the corporation has expanded its business through franchising, timeshares, standalone golf courses, and casinos.
