According to the Airbnb Report on Travel & Living, there has been a 10% increase in vacation stays of 28 days and over in Quarter 1 of 2021 compared to Quarter 1 of 2019. Airbnb has stated “11 percent of our long-term stay bookers in 2021 reported living a nomadic lifestyle, with 74 percent of consumers we surveyed across five countries expressing interest in living someplace other than where their employer is based after the pandemic is over.” Noting this trend, Airbnb is offering a once in a lifetime opportunity, where individuals can apply to live anywhere in the world for one year, July 2021 to July 2022. The deadline for application is June 30, 2021.
Aptly called ‘Live Anywhere on Airbnb’, this offering is available to twelve individuals who can bring along a maximum of three companions. The application process includes filling out a questionnaire which Airbnb will use to determine if you are a best fit for this nomadic style vacationing engagement. As such, the interested applicants need to state the reason why they would like to live on Airbnb for a year and why a nomadic lifestyle is an attraction. Additionally, applicants have to indicate how participating in the program will fit into their present work/life schedule.
Airbnb has listed the following types of people that they are looking for, which includes: Young Families, Creatives, Empty Nesters, Digital Nomads, Remote Workers and Staycationers. The perks for the chosen 12 is that Airbnb will cover expenses related to accommodation, ground transportation, local experiences and other costs which they will detail at a later date.
Airbnb desires the selected individual and their companions to share the one year experience which they state will help to inform Airbnb on future decision for the their brand offerings .
Eligible applicants should be 18 years and older and reside in one of the following countries/regions only: Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada excluding the Province of Quebec, Chile, mainland China, Denmark, Dubai, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, UK and US.
